This could be a tricky match for Real Madrid, but having said that the Spanish champions have showed improvement since the early days of the Spanish La Liga.

Zenit St Petersburg will be looking for a change of fortune after they went down 0-1 late in the match to Juventus in Turin. They will be buoyed by the fact that they were impressive in their 3-0 Premier League match against Lokomotiv Moscow at the weekend. On the other hand Real Madrid had to wait until late in their match against Real Betis to win 2-1 away from home. They lead Group H on goal difference. Apart from Nicolas Lombaerts, Zenit are likely to be at full strength. It is not clear as to whether the ‘much sought after striker’ Andrei Arsharvin will play as he left out of the side at the weekend. For Real Madrid Christoph Metzelder and Michel Salgado are likely to be rested, Guti, Fernando Gago and Wesley Sneijder are on the injury list. However Fabio Cannavaro returns.

This could be a lively match where the Russian home crowd are due to get right behind their team as they hope to upset Real Madrid. It is not unlikely that Zenit St Petersburg can win this match at home.

Arsenal couldn’t win at Dynamo Kyiv two weeks ago, but will want to move into first place in Group G with a win over FC Porto on Tuesday.

The Gunners will have to overcome their 1-2 home defeat in the Premiership but Hull City, something that according to Arsene Wenger was mostly to be blamed on the players’ heights, not their skills.

The French manager may sive Johan Djourou a try after this weekend’s showing, while Samir Nasri returns from injury and might make an appearance as well.

Porto boss Ferreira has very few injury worries. Lucho González missed the last match but is fit in time to face Arsenal.

The two teams that are expected to dominate Champions League Group F, Bayern Munich and Olympique de Lyon face each other for their second group game on Tuesday.

These two sides have met four times before, with Lyon winning twice and Bayern only once. Their most recent meeting was in November 2003 when Lyon beat the German’s 1-2 at the Olympia stadium of Munich.

Bayern are still without the injured Van Buyten, Lell and Altintop, while Lyon won’t be able to use the services of both Fabios Santos, Grosso and Cleric.

Lyon will want a win after their hard fought 2-2 draw against Fiorentina, but Bayern do seem to have the better chances for this game.

Fiorentina were kept from winning their opening match at Lyon two weeks ago, but now have a much better chance as they host Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday.

The Italian side have had a rather wobbly start to their season, with only two Serie A wins achieved so far. Steaua just put a domestic top clash with Cluj behind them with a 1-1 draw as result.

Alessandro Gamberini returns for La Viola after dislocating his shoulder two weeks ago, and Gianluca Comotto should be fit in time as well. Manuel Pasqual will have to watch this one from the side though.

Banel Nicolita served his one-match-ban for Steaua and is available, but both Emeghara and Plesan are out injured.

Juventus have not been impressive in Serie A thus far. This is despite the fact that they remain unbeaten. BATE Borisov currently lead the Belarus league and remain unbeaten after twenty three matches!

French international and Juventus striker David Trezeguet will be out of action until next year as the result of surgery on an injured knee while goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender Christian Poulsen will also be out as they are both struggling with minor knocks. However Nicola Legrottaglie has recovered from injury and will return to play on Tuesday. For the home side experienced midfielder Aleksandr Ermakovich will be missing, not only for this match but for the remainder of the year after undergoing knee surgery.

BATE Borisov must fancy their chances especially after their meritorious 0-2 defeat to Real Madrid at Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. This could be a tricky away game for Juventus who looked far from impressive in their goalless draw against UC Sampdoria at the weekend. A draw or victory for BATE Borisov is not out of the question against a talented Juventus side that have failed to find the net in two matches.

In the group in which none of the teams have scored a goal Villarreal CF take on Scottish Champions Glasgow Celtic. Villarreal head the Spanish League and are unbeaten thus far this season. They began their Champions League quest with a creditable 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Manuel Pellegrini has named his squad for the second game in this group. Matias Fernandez and Pascal Cygan are both left out, Turkish striker Nihat Kahveci is ruled out with a thigh injury while Jozy Altidore is ineligible for the competition.

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan believes that he has the squad to beat Villarreal. He is hoping that his squad will be able to do something special on the night that will bring them success. The Celtic manager is of the opinion that his team has the pace to upset his opposition. Strachan was cautious when he said that for his side to make it into the next round they had to pick something up from his game. Midfielder Barry Robson has recovered from injury and has travelled with the squad while Andreas Hinkel was left behind in Glasgow nursing a thigh strain but fellow defender Gary Caldwell returns from suspension after missing this weekend.

The Scottish champions will indeed have to do something very special to win this encounter. It does point to a Villarreal victory however as the “Yellow Submarine” look set to come out on top.

Fenerbahçe hope to break through their recent negative cycle as they host Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv in Istanbul for their second Champions League game.

‘Fener’ lost their opening game to Porto while Dynamo were more successful, holding Arsenal to a draw in Kyiv.

These two sides met before, in the preliminary round of the 2006-07 Champions League. Dynamo won, and entered that year’s group phase. Fenerbahçe were certainly want to make up for that defeat.

Volkan Demirel returns for Fenerbahçe, while Semih Senturk and Alex may be declared fit in time as well.

The injured Dynamo star Artem Milevskiy will not travel to Turkey, and the same goes for Oleh Gusev and Carlos Correa.

Aalborg BK, after their excellent draw with ten men against Glasgow Celtic in Glasgow last time, must be fancying their chances against defending champions Manchester United who have, to say the least, had a poor start to in defence of both their domestic and Champions League titles.

In a group where no goal has yet to be scored, all four teams are on one point, a win for either team will boost their chances of qualification into the next round. Manchester United were disappointing against Villarreal CF and a loss here could damage their chances of making it through to the next round.

Manchester United will have Cristiano Ronaldo back for this match and he is beginning to find his form. Dimitar Berbatov is likely to partner Wayne Rooney up front. The only absentees are likely to be Gary Neville and Owen Hargreaves. Aalborg BK will have defender Michael Beauchamp back after he was erroneously sent off against Celtic. On form, even though Manchester United may be improving, a draw is not out of the question.
