    Second seed Jelena Jankovic beat Olympic champion Elena Dementieva in straight sets to reach her first Grand Slam final at the US Open. The Serbian recovered from a poor start to win the semi-final 6-4 6-4 in windy conditions on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Jankovic lost serve early on but took control by winning five games in a row, and then got the better of five breaks in a tense second set.
